I have decided that AC/DC at Wembley is the best single gig I have ever been to.

This was the first time I have been to the New Wembley (this has a lot to do with Leicester City Football Club being crap over the last few seasons) and I was simply taken aback when I walked through the concourse and out onto the stands. It’s far grander than Old Trafford (Old Trafford being on a simaler scale to Wembley and somewhere that I’ve been lucky enough to go to recently) but maybe that’s because it was simply Wembley and I’ll always have fond memorys of going to Wembley, no matter what it’s incarnation. The only problem I found with Wembley Stadium as a music venue was that the accustics were abysmal.

By the time we (Me, Paula, Dan, and Phil) had battled the insane motorway traffic, caught the tube, arrived at the stadium, located warmonkey and the randoms he had inevitably befriended (rather nice bunch of spaniards this time). We arrived after the first support band The Answer had finished so we milled around the middle of the pitch drinking our pints of cold beer on a perfect day. The second band to play were The Subways and these guys sounded atrocious, not heard any of their stuff before and warmonkey will convince you that they are shit anyway but I didn’t get a chance to judge for myself just because of the layout of the stadium being designed to hold the noise of a chanting football fans and not host live music in. You couldn’t hear fuck all in the center of the pitch because of the echo around the ground so we decided that it would be best if we went as close as possible to the front to get the best sound for ‘DC. –> This was a very wise move indeed.

Close runners-up to best ever gig would be Kasabian at De Montfort Hall at the end of May and Insomnium at Rock City a few years back.
